156 GTA
147 GTA
GTV
The 147 GTA came along at a time where the range leading hatchbacks didn't use smaller turbo charged engines they came packing with 6 cylinder engines. In every way this is a perfect example of that type of hatchback. With its sinky 3.2 V6 kicking out 250BHP it moves well. However stick it into a corner and its faults show up. For a car of the time not many will match how this car feels to sit in, with typical Italian styling. This is a rare car and you don't see many about, even more so its 3.7 big brother which is even more rare to see on the roads.
Much like its smaller the 156 GTA uses the same 3.2 V6 engine. Now where as hatchbacks are now using smaller engines, the family saloon car can still get away with using a larger power plant. So that still makes this car kind of current. You can also pick this up in estate form but the one to watch will be the saloon as its a more desirable shape.
The GTV stands out as a thing of beauty. With styling details not found in modern cars it stands out from the crowd. Alfa sticks with a tried and tested formula style and a sweet petrol engine. Ideally you would want to be looking for the highest spec GTV you can afford. I would be looking towards the 3.0 V6 Cup. Its not the most powerful that title goes to the 3.2 but that engine is offered in more trim forms. The Cup was only available with the 3.0 V6 most likely making it more rare on the market. Just always remember when buying an Alfa be very careful we all know the stories, but buy a good one and you will treasure it.
