Genesis. This is the one word that can be used to sum up this car. It had a short run with a 1.6 engine but for the most part it used a 1.8 litre engine. The hatchback values are rising very fast, however cabriolet values are still lowish. Common sense would suggest the cabriolet values will soon begin to rise baring in mind the UK's love for cabriolets. Campaign editions are where the money is at.

The difficult second album and what an album. Again the Golf came with a 1.8 engine in 8V and 16V format a rare G60 edition was also made that was fitted with a supercharger. The 3 door model is the best buy and if you are able to find one in Oak Green with original BBS alloys it doesn't get much better.

We are only lucky enough to have this car because VW wanted to enter the world of rallying. To do so they had to sell 5000 units and so the Golf Rallye was born. Using a slightly different G60 engine but with all wheel drive and only available in left hand drive this is a rare beast. Its easy to I.D due to the different headlights and body kit. Unfortunately VW didn't perform well at the 1990 World Rally and rally rules changed meaning the Golf was just out gunned. But it left the world with a true classic. Values of the Rallye are high and will only ever go up.

The Corrado followed on from the Scirocco. Using a number of engines the range leader was the G60 this was then sidelined for the more powerful VR6 unit. A special edition VR6 was also launched called the "Storm". This car was put together from VW parts bin, but the mechanics knew what they were doing with the parts. Regarded as one of the best front wheel drive cars you can't go wrong buying one.

This is another of the mad cap ideas seen during the 80's and 90's. It uses a small 1.3 supercharged engine but with little body weight it pulls very well. The Polo was never a big seller but has a keen following these days. It will most likely never achieve sales prices like the Golfs but it will surely become a collectors classic.
