Most will look at this car and would of never heard of it. Here are the head lines. Mercedes make smart, so look at this as a Mercedes hot hatchback wearing a different badge. It uses a 1.5 litre engine with a turbo, which isn't ground breaking but hold one its got 177BHP. Now because many won't of heard of it, it could struggle to achieve a classic status at some point in its life. But bare in mind it has everything a hot hatchback needs and with a name like BRABUS attached to it this could be a winner but its far to early to tell.

The Mk4 Astra was never a ground breaking car. But when Vauxhall put their GSi badge on it things changed some what. This is a good attempt with a powerful engine and good looks. So looking to the future could it become a classic? There is a good chance with only 840 taxed on the road currently (18/9/15) numbers are falling. So an educated guess would suggest that with the history of performance Astra's and falling numbers this could be classic.

Volkswagen's dark days. Gone are the gems that were the Mk1 & Mk2. We were given the heavier Mk3. Although the GTi 16V came with 150BHP engine it was the 2.8 VR6 that stood out from the crowd. Now we all know the Mk3 & Mk4 we not the best but this was the best of a bad bunch. The VR6 is a strong engine with strong performance. However put the engine to one side and whats left is not that great. But we all know the love for Golf's so there is no reason why values could begin to rise at some point.

The Evo range is well known for its excellence. Having seen 10 generations always using a 2 litre turbo engine and all wheel drive. These cars always have strong values but there are alot of them out there. I dare say some special addition Evo's could be worth more than others and could indeed go up in value but due to the fact that numbers are high it could hurt its classic car values.

Much like its rival above the Impreza suffers from the same problems. It never struggled to sell. Again using a 2 litre turbo charged engine with all wheel drive it was always a beast on or off the road. Special edition models again maybe worth more at some point butif and when this happens is anyones guess.

A popular classic? Yes. A reliable classic? Thats the question. The Rotary engine is well known to cause headaches though. It is a powerful engine if well cared for. Checking the engines compression is a must as this is the easiest way of telling whether the engine will need a rebuild or not.
