Fiesta XR2 & XR2i

The babies of Fords hot hatch empire. The XR2 started it all again for Ford after the success of things like the Cortina. They used a light weight car with a nippy engine, just simple engineering. Then technology got better and injection was introduced. The XR2i was born. Power increased but as with all things like this so did weight. The XR2 has seen a steady rise in prices and the XR2i won't be to far behind.

As with everything during late 80's early 90's Ford banged a turbo on to their baby hot hatch. This gave the car the increase in power it needed. The problem you will find now is trying to find a standard unmodified car. If you can this could be a gold mine of a car to the right buyer.

A classic of the Ford world but over shadowed by its brother the Cosworth. This car had rear wheel drive and a 2.8 engine turning out 160bhp. Not a huge amount now days but enough in its day. Much like all hot Fords they have a massive following and strong values that will hold and go up.

Most of us remember the Puma from the 90's but most don't know Ford did a limited run called the Puma Racing. Currently these cars are becoming very popular and are getting harder to find. Much like the Audi S3 this is one of the more modern cars but where as the Audi is waiting to go up in value this already is and fast.

The Mk4 Escort saw the birth of these 2 cars. Both came with a 1.6 engine. The XR3i had 105bhp and the Rs Turbo came with 132bhp. My pick would be the RS Turbo. It seems that the more powerful car of that generation the better its value and status are. As with all cars of this age rush are their killers. In theory if they are still running well now and have not had massive exhausts and been slammed to the ground they should be a good investment.
